v1.0.0 • Launching soon

Platforms

macOS (Apple Silicon)

.dmg · unnotarized initial launch

SHA-256

Available after the first release.
  1. 01Download and open the DMG.
  2. 02Drag Mockingbird.app into Applications.
  3. 03Launch from Applications.

If Gatekeeper blocks the app

Initial launch builds are ad-hoc signed but not notarized. Control-click Mockingbird.app, choose Open, then confirm. If macOS still blocks it, run xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Mockingbird.app" once.

Windows x64

.exe · NSIS installer

SHA-256

Available after the first release.
  1. 01Download the .exe installer.
  2. 02Run it and follow the prompts.
  3. 03Launch Mockingbird from the Start menu.

If SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher

Click "More info", then "Run anyway". SmartScreen warms up once a release has been downloaded by enough users; Microsoft's reputation service lifts the warning automatically.

Linux

.AppImage · portable binary

SHA-256

Available after the first release.
  1. 01Download the AppImage.
  2. 02Mark it executable: chmod +x Mockingbird-*.AppImage
  3. 03Run ./Mockingbird-*.AppImage

Dependencies

The AppImage bundles its own Electron runtime. If your distribution uses FUSE 3 (Ubuntu 22.04+), install libfuse2 via your package manager so the image can mount itself.

First run

After the install

The app boots to the Practice page with a seeded trial user. Choose Offline Mode for local transcription and local AI (Quality: Medium, one-time model download), or Online Mode for high-end cloud AI (Quality: Highest, Wi-Fi required). Everything else works out of the box: the overlay, the modes, the practice loop.
