Billing FAQ

How long is the free trial?
The desktop app ships with a ten-minute stealth-overlay trial built in: no card, no sign-up, nothing to cancel. When you want to run longer sessions, subscribe from inside the app or on this page.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel in one click from your Account page or the Stripe customer portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then ends automatically.
What is your refund policy?
If you are unhappy with Mockingbird within fourteen days of your first paid charge, email support@vathus.ai and we will refund you in full, no forms, no exit survey. After fourteen days we do not offer refunds, but you can cancel to avoid the next charge.
How does invoicing work?
Every payment is processed by Stripe. You receive a PDF invoice by email at the end of each billing cycle, and you can download historical invoices any time from the customer portal linked in your Account page.
How do you handle VAT and sales tax?
We use Stripe Tax to calculate and collect the correct VAT, GST or sales tax based on your billing address. UK and EU customers see the tax line on every invoice; customers outside tax-collection regions see a clean net-of-tax total.
Which currencies do you support?
All tiers are priced and billed in US dollars. Your bank or card issuer will handle the conversion to your local currency, and the exchange rate used is visible in your card statement alongside the charge.
What does BYOK actually mean?
Bring Your Own Key. Instead of paying us for Online Mode usage, you create your own provider accounts and paste the API keys into Mockingbird. Keys are encrypted via your operating-system keychain and never leave your device except when the app connects directly to the provider during an active session.
Do I need a paid subscription to use the desktop app?
No. Starter covers Offline Mode: local transcription, local AI, the practice loop, and the stealth overlay. Pro and BYOK are there when you want Online Mode with high-end cloud AI.
